Ishapore No.1 MK 3 .303 British caliber rifle. Produced in India during 1938. All matching serial numbers except for the nose cap. t has been modified to take the Japanese type 30 bayonet. This modification was done by the Japanese during W.W.II or by Indonesia during the early post-war period.
VDC (These are Indian villagers posing for a photo during training sessions with the military. VDC stands for Village Defense Committee, which helps train and arm villagers in remote areas. Not sure why the fellow wrapped the ammo belt around his front sight, doesn’t seem like you can get a decent sight picture but again…photo op.)
